Ingredients
  

Base Ingredients

  • 1 cup Saltine Crackers Forms the crunchy base.
  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter Creates the caramel layer.
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar Combines with butter for caramel.

Topping Ingredients

  • 2 cups Chocolate Chips Melts to create a chocolate top layer.
  • 1 cup Chopped Nuts (Optional) Adds extra crunch and flavor.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Arrange saltine crackers in a single layer on the baking sheet.

Making the Caramel

  • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt unsalted butter and brown sugar together while stirring continuously until it bubbles.
  • Pour the melted mixture evenly over the saltine crackers.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 5 to 7 minutes, watching closely to avoid burning.
  • Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot caramel-covered crackers.
  • Spread the melted chocolate evenly with a spatula.
  • If using, sprinkle chopped nuts over the melted chocolate.

Cooling and Serving

  • Allow to cool completely at room temperature, then break into pieces.
