Ingredients
  

For the Potatoes

  • 1.5 pounds baby or small potatoes Yukon Gold or Red potatoes work well.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil Can be substituted with other oils for different flavors.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Adjust according to taste.
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder Adjust according to taste.

  • none none Fresh herbs (like rosemary or parsley) Optional for garnish.

Preparation

  • Wash the potatoes thoroughly under cold water to remove any dirt and pat them dry.
  • Place the potatoes in a large pot of salted water and bring to a boil. Cook for about 15-20 minutes, or until fork-tender.
  • Drain the potatoes and let them cool for a few minutes. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) during this time.
  • Gently flatten each potato with the bottom of a plate or a potato masher, aiming for a thickness of about half an inch.
  • In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Brush this mixture generously over each smashed potato.

Cooking

  • Arrange the potatoes in a single layer in the preheated air fryer basket, avoiding overcrowding.
  • Air fry the smashed potatoes for about 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove the potatoes from the air fryer and garnish with fresh herbs if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

Use uniform-sized potatoes for even cooking. Boiling before smashing adds creaminess and ensures perfect fluffiness. Experiment with different seasonings and herbs.
