Ingredients
  

Tuna Salad Mixture

  • 1 can can of tuna in water, drained Make sure the tuna is well-drained to prevent sogginess.
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise Can substitute Greek yogurt for a healthier option.
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard Adds a tangy flavor.
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup diced celery
  • 1/4 cup diced onion

Sandwich Components

  • 4 slices slices of bread (your choice) Sourdough, whole grain, or gluten-free options work well.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (like cheddar or mozzarella) Can substitute with any cheese that melts well.
  • Optional: sliced tomatoes or pickles for topping Can add for extra flavor and freshness.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the drained tuna, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, salt, pepper, diced celery, and diced onion. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  • Take two slices of bread and place a portion of the tuna mixture on each. Spread it evenly.
  • Add a layer of shredded cheese on top of the tuna mixture.
  • If you like, add sliced tomatoes or pickles on top of the cheese.
  • Cover with the other two slices of bread.
  • Lightly spray the outside of the sandwiches with cooking spray for added crispness.

Cooking

  • Place the sandwiches in the air fryer basket. Cook for about 5-7 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  • Carefully remove the sandwiches from the air fryer and let them cool for a minute before slicing.

Notes

For the best results, keep an eye on the sandwiches while cooking to prevent burning, as air fryers can vary in temperature. You can also sprinkle garlic powder or paprika on the outside of the bread before cooking for added flavor.
