Pastry Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
  • 1 cup almond paste
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 each egg (beaten for egg wash)
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds for topping
  • powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Lightly dust your work surface with flour and roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet to about 1/8 inch thick.
  • Cut the pastry into 4-inch squares.

Filling

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the almond paste and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.
  • Place a spoonful of the almond mixture in the center of each pastry square.
  • Fold the corners of the pastry squares over the filling and seal the edges with a fork.

Baking

  • Brush the tops of the pastries with the beaten egg and sprinkle sliced almonds on top.
  • Carefully place the pastries on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

Serving

  • Once baked, remove the pastries from the oven, let them cool slightly on a wire rack, and dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes
