Sandwich Ingredients

  • 4 slices slices of bread (your choice) Thick-cut artisan, sourdough, or multigrain recommended.
  • 1 cup brie cheese, sliced Can substitute with goat cheese or cheddar.
  • 1/4 cup apple butter Store-bought or homemade.
  • 2 tablespoons butter For grilling; using more ensures a crisp crust.
  • a pinch salt (optional) Enhances sweetness and flavor.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Spread apple butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  • On the other side of two slices, layer the brie cheese evenly.
  • Place the other two slices of bread on top, apple butter side facing in.

Grilling

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and add one tablespoon of butter, allowing it to melt.
  • Carefully place one sandwich in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown.
  • Flip the sandwich and add the remaining butter, cooking the other side for another 3-4 minutes until golden and the brie melts.
  • Remove the sandwich from the skillet and let cool slightly; repeat with the second sandwich.

Serving

  • Slice the sandwiches in halves or quarters and serve warm.

Notes

Serve with a side salad or a bowl of tomato soup. Cut into bite-sized pieces for appetizers. Sprinkle cinnamon on apple butter for extra flavor.
