Ingredients
  

For the Dough

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

For the Filling

  • 3 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

For the Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
 

Prepare the Dough

  • In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, and sugar.
  • In a separate small bowl, mix warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  • Add the yeast mixture, egg, and softened butter to the flour mixture. Stir until it forms a dough.
  • Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about an hour or until doubled in size.

Prepare the Filling

  • In another bowl, mix diced apples, cinnamon, brown sugar, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Set aside.

Bake

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • After the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  • Spread the apple filling evenly over the dough, leaving a small border.
  • Roll the dough tightly into a log from the long side.
  • Shape the log into a spiral on a greased baking sheet.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Let the kringle cool.

Prepare the Glaze

  • In a small bowl, mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Drizzle over the cooled kringle.
