Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground chicken or turkey Choose lean ground meat for a healthier option.
  • 1 can (15 ounces) white kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (4 ounces) chopped green chilies Adjust amount to taste for spice level.
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups chicken broth Use low-sodium broth if preferred.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • to taste Salt and pepper Adjust according to preference.

Optional Toppings

  • 1 Sour cream For serving.
  • 1 Shredded cheese For serving.
  • 1 Cilantro Fresh, for garnishing.

Instructions
 

Cooking the Chili

  • Heat a large pot over medium heat.
  • Add the ground chicken or turkey, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Cook for 5 to 7 minutes until golden brown.
  • Stir in the chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook for another 3 to 5 minutes until the onion is translucent.
  • Add the chopped green chilies and drained white kidney beans along with the chicken broth.
  • Sprinkle in the ground cumin and oregano, stirring everything together.
  • Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer. Cook for 20 minutes.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve in bowls and garnish with optional toppings.

Notes

For a creamier texture, add a touch of heavy cream or sour cream towards the end. Don’t rush the simmering step to enhance flavor.
