Large Skillet or Wok
Ingredients
1
lb
beef (flank steak or sirloin), thinly sliced
3
cups
fresh broccoli florets
0.25
cup
soy sauce
2
tablespoons
oyster sauce
3
cloves
garlic, minced
1
teaspoon
freshly grated ginger
1
tablespoon
cornstarch
0.5
cup
beef broth or water
1
teaspoon
sesame oil
2
tablespoons
cooking oil (vegetable or canola)
Optional garnishes: sliced green onions, toasted sesame seeds
Instructions
Slice beef thinly against the grain. Optionally marinate in half the soy sauce for 15-30 minutes.
Blanch broccoli florets in salted boiling water for 1-2 minutes, then transfer to cold water to stop cooking.
Heat cooking oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic and grated ginger; cook until fragrant (about 30 seconds).
Add beef and stir-fry until browned but not overcooked, about 2-3 minutes. Remove beef from pan and set aside.
Whisk together remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, beef broth, and cornstarch. Pour into the pan and cook, stirring until sauce thickens.
Return beef and broccoli to pan; toss to coat with sauce. Drizzle sesame oil on top and stir to combine.
Garnish with green onions and toasted sesame seeds if desired. Serve immediately over steamed rice or grains.
Notes
This broccoli beef is versatile: swap beef for chicken or tofu, add vegetables like bell peppers, or adjust sauce to taste.
