Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter while stirring frequently until it turns a deep amber color and develops a nutty aroma (about 5-7 minutes).
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the brown butter cool for a few minutes.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm brown butter with dark brown sugar and granulated sugar; mix until smooth and creamy.
  • Add the eggs one by one, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually fold the dry mixture into the wet mixture until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips evenly.

Baking

  • Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  • Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
