Ingredients
  

For the Cookies

  • 1 cup unsalted butter browned
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • optional chocolate chips, nuts, or dried fruits for variations

Preparation

  • In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Swirl occasionally until the butter turns golden brown and develops a nutty aroma. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and browned butter. Mix until well combined.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Stir until fully incorporated. If you choose to add optional ingredients, fold them in at this stage.
  • Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.

Baking

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Scoop tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving ample space between each scoop.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden but the centers remain soft.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes
