Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour Essential for the cookie's structure
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda Helps cookies rise
  • 1 teaspoon salt Enhances flavor

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Must be softened, not melted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar For sweetness and texture
  • 1 cup packed light-brown sugar Adds moisture and flavor
  • 2 large eggs Bind ingredients together
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract Adds rich flavor

Chocolate Chips

  • 2 cups semi-sweet and/or milk chocolate chips Main flavor component, can mix types

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and baking soda. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, combine the softened butter, granulated sugar, light-brown sugar, and salt. Beat with an electric mixer for about 2 minutes until creamy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually mix in the flour mixture until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  • Scoop heaping spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, until edges are lightly golden and centers look slightly soft.
  • Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, use softened, not melted butter and avoid overmixing. Chilling the dough for 30 minutes can also improve texture.
