Ingredients
  

For the Chicken

  • 2 pieces chicken breasts Boneless, skinless preferred.
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • to taste salt & pepper
  • flour for dredging To coat chicken pieces.
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil Divided.
  • 1 tablespoon butter

For the Sauce

  • 8 ounces cremini mushrooms, sliced
  • 1/2 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard Or more, to taste.
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce Or more, to taste.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2/3 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup full-fat sour cream

Preparation

  • Cut the chicken breasts into 1-inch pieces and sprinkle with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Coat each piece in flour.

Cooking the Chicken

  • In a deep skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add chicken in batches and cook for about 3 minutes per side until browned. Transfer to a plate.

Making the Sauce

  • In the same skillet, add butter, mushrooms, and onions. Sauté for 6-8 minutes until softened.
  • Stir in Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and minced garlic. Cook for 1 minute.
  • Pour in chicken broth, scraping up any bits from the bottom of the pan.
  • Return the chicken to the skillet and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  • Stir in the sour cream and heat through without boiling. Adjust seasoning as necessary.

Notes

Serve over egg noodles or rice. Garnish with parsley or dill. Ideal for personalization.
