Ingredients
  

For the chili

  • 1 Tbsp cooking oil
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 tsp garlic, crushed
  • 500 g ground beef
  • 800 g diced tomatoes
  • 400 g can red kidney beans, drained
  • 2 Tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp cumin, ground
  • 2 tsp chili flakes

For the fries

  • 750 g frozen fries

For the cheese topping

  • 250 g mozzarella cheese
  • 250 g cheddar cheese

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 220°C (430°F).
  • In a deep frying pan, heat the cooking oil over medium heat.
  • Add the diced onion and crushed garlic. Sauté until the onion is translucent.
  • Stir in the ground beef and cook for about 5 minutes, or until browned.
  • Stir in the diced tomatoes, red kidney beans, tomato paste, sugar, paprika, cumin, and chili flakes.
  • Let the mixture simmer for at least 30 minutes.
  • Line a baking tray with parchment paper and spread frozen fries evenly. Bake for 30-40 minutes, tossing halfway through.
  • Season fries with salt and pepper after baking.
  • Pile the fries onto a serving tray and pour the chili mixture on top.
  • Sprinkle mozzarella and cheddar cheese generously over the chili.
  • Return the dish to the oven for about 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
  • Serve warm.

Notes

For an extra kick, add toppings like sliced jalapeños, sour cream, or diced green onions. Leftover chili can be stored and used in other dishes.
