Ingredients
  

  • 8 ounces Buddig original dried beef or similar brand
  • ¼ cup butter
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 pinches ground cayenne pepper
  • 2 cups milk whole milk recommended
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Slice the dried beef into bite-sized pieces.
  • Melt the butter in a skillet over medium-low heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Stir in black pepper and cayenne pepper.
  • Slowly pour in the milk while whisking constantly until smooth and creamy.
  • Add the chopped dried beef and simmer for 3 to 5 minutes, allowing flavors to meld.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve immediately over toasted bread.
