Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 3 medium/large bananas, very ripe (about 1 3/4 cups mashed) Ripe bananas provide the necessary moisture and sweetness.
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Chocolate Chips

  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips, divided Add 3/4 cup to batter and sprinkle remaining on top.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Butter and lightly flour a standard loaf pan.

Mixing Ingredients

  • In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs and mix thoroughly.
  • Mash the very ripe bananas and mix them with the vanilla extract into the butter and egg mixture.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  • Gently fold in 3/4 cup of semisweet chocolate chips.

Baking

  • Transfer the batter into the prepared loaf pan, topping with remaining chocolate chips.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 55-65 minutes, checking with a toothpick for doneness.
  • Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
