  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, plus extra to stick on tops

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the room-temperature unsalted butter and white granulated sugar until the mixture is creamy and well-combined.
  • Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until fluffy and light.
  • Sprinkle in the all-purpose flour, kosher salt, and baking soda. Gently stir until just combined.
  • Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips evenly.
  • Portion out the dough onto baking sheets lined with parchment paper, leaving space for spreading.
  • Add a few extra chocolate chips on top of each dough ball, if desired.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 11 to 13 minutes until golden brown around the edges.
  • Cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
