Chocolate Orange Cheesecake

Ingredients
  

For the crust

  • 1.5 cups 1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 0.5 cups ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 0.5 cups ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cups ½ cup melted butter

For the filling

  • 16 ounces 16 ounces cream cheese, softened Make sure at room temperature.
  • 1 cup 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large Zest of 1 large orange
  • 0.5 cups ½ cup fresh orange juice
  • 8 ounces 8 ounces sour cream
  • 8 ounces 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, melted Use high-quality chocolate for best results.
  • to taste Whipped cream (for garnish)
  • to taste Orange slices (for garnish)

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C). Grease the bottom and sides of a 9-inch springform pan.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, and melted butter. Stir until well mixed and resembles wet sand.
  • Press the crumb mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared springform pan. Bake for 10 minutes, then set aside to cool.

Filling

  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add 1 cup of sugar and continue beating until well combined.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as necessary.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract, orange zest, and fresh orange juice until fully incorporated.
  • Gently fold in the sour cream and melted chocolate until fully combined, creating a rich chocolate-orange filling.

Baking

  • Pour the cheesecake mixture over the cooled crust in the springform pan. Smooth the top with a spatula.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 55-60 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center is still slightly jiggly.
  • Turn off the oven and let the cheesecake cool in the oven with the door slightly ajar for about 1 hour to prevent cracking.
  • Once cooled, transfer the cheesecake to the refrigerator and chill for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, before serving.

Notes

For an attractive presentation, drizzle melted chocolate on top and garnish with whipped cream and fresh orange slices. You can also serve with vanilla ice cream or a complementary fruit compote.
