Cookie Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure butter is truly softened, not melted.
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 none egg Bring the egg to room temperature.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder Experiment with different cocoa powders.
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Decoration

  • 1 cup melting chocolate Use warm chocolate for dipping.
  • 1 cup colorful sprinkles Sprinkle on before the chocolate hardens.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the egg and vanilla extract to the mixture and mix until fully incorporated.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  • Slowly combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  • Using a cookie press or piping bag, pipe the dough onto ungreased baking sheets in desired shapes.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 10 to 12 minutes, watching closely to avoid overbaking.
  • Remove from the oven and cool the cookies on wire racks.
  • After cooling, dip cookies in melted chocolate and decorate with colorful sprinkles.
