Instructions
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a medium-sized mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until the mixture is smooth and pale.
- Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract to the butter-sugar mixture. Mix until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until a cohesive dough forms.
- On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness.
- Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes from the rolled dough and place them on ungreased baking sheets.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes or until the edges turn lightly golden.
Cooling and Decorating
- Allow the cookies to cool completely on a wire rack before decorating.
