  • Sprinkles For decoration

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a small bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Whisk until completely blended.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and white sugar together on medium speed until smooth and fluffy, about 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract to the butter-sugar mixture. Mix until fully combined.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture into the wet ingredients. Mix on low speed until just combined; do not overmix.
  • On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness. Use cookie cutters to create various shapes.

Baking

  • Place your cut-out cookies onto ungreased baking pans, leaving a small space between each cookie.
  • Bake in the oven for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden around the edges. The centers may look soft but will firm up as they cool.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on wire racks before decorating.

Decorating

  • Once the cookies are completely cooled, use royal icing to decorate and add colorful sprinkles.
