Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup buttermilk plus 3 tablespoons for glaze
  • 1 large egg lightly beaten
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter melted and cooled
  • 0.5 teaspoon almond extract

Add-ins & Toppings

  • 0.5 cup sprinkles for the bread
  • 2 cups powdered sugar sifted for glaze
  • 1 tablespoon light corn syrup for glaze
  • Nonpareils for topping

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F and prepare a 9x5 inch aluminum loaf pan with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and kosher salt.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk the lightly beaten egg, buttermilk, melted and cooled butter, and almond extract.
  • Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, mixing gently until just combined.
  • Fold in the sprinkles.

Baking

  • Transfer the batter to the prepared loaf pan and bake for 45-50 minutes.
  • Cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then lift out using the parchment paper and let cool completely on a wire rack.

Glazing

  • While the bread cools, whisk together the powdered sugar, 3 tablespoons of buttermilk, and light corn syrup until smooth.
  • Drizzle the glaze over the cooled bread and top with nonpareils.
