Ingredients
  

For the Cookies

  • ½ batch ½ batch of your favorite sugar cookie dough

For the Buttercream Frosting

  • 1 batch 1 batch of delicious buttercream frosting
  • Nonpareils Nonpareils Christmas Sprinkles (for decoration)
  • Wilton Color Right Food Coloring in Red, Crimson, Yellow, and Blue For coloring the frosting

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Start by making a half-batch of your favorite sugar cookie dough.
  • Lightly flour your working surface and roll out the dough to about ¼ inch thick.
  • Use a small square cookie cutter to cut out cookies, or roll the dough into strips and cut into squares.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Baking

  • Place the cut-out cookies on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Bake them for about 4-5 minutes, or until you notice slight golden edges forming.

Frosting

  • While the cookies cool, prepare the buttercream frosting. Divide it into three separate bowls.
  • Dye one bowl green, another red, and leave one bowl white using food coloring.
  • Once the cookies have cooled completely, frost them using a knife or a piping bag.
  • Sprinkle Nonpareils on top of the frosting before it sets.

Serving

  • Arrange the frosted cookies on a festive platter ready for serving.

Notes

Store decorated cookies in an airtight container. They can last for up to one week at room temperature or three months in the freezer.
