  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure at room temperature for optimal mixing.
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Use quality extract for better flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract Use quality extract for better flavor.
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons milk Use to adjust dough consistency.

Decoration Ingredients

  • Sprinkles or icing For decorating the cookies.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a small bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  • In a larger bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until smooth. Add the egg and mix well.
  • Mix in the vanilla and almond extracts.
  • Gradually blend in the dry ingredient mixture. If the dough is too dry, add milk as needed.
  • Roll the dough into rounded teaspoonfuls and place them on ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass.
  • Sprinkle with decorative sugar or icing and get creative!

Baking

  • Bake the cookies for about 8 to 10 minutes until golden around the edges and soft in the center.
  • Transfer to wire racks to cool before serving.

Notes
