- Gather all your ingredients, ensuring the butter is properly chilled.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine cold diced butter, powdered sugar, and salt. Beat until creamy using an electric mixer on low speed.
- Add vanilla extract and mix until fully incorporated.
- Gradually add flour while mixing until a pliable yet firm dough forms.
- Lightly flour a surface and roll out the dough to about ⅓ inch thick.
- Cut out cookie shapes using a tree-shaped cookie cutter.
- Refrigerate cut-out cookies for 30 minutes to maintain shape during baking.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Baking and Decorating
- Bake the cookies for 12 minutes until edges feel firm but centers remain soft.
- Cool the cookies on the baking sheet for five minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
- Melt white chocolate in short bursts in the microwave and mix in green food coloring.
- Pipe melted chocolate onto cooled cookies and decorate with sprinkles.
- Allow decorated cookies to set before storing in an airtight container.
