Ingredients
  

Oatmeal Base

  • 3 cups rolled oats
  • 4 3/4 cups water Use for cooking oats
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 5 tablespoons brown sugar Adjust to taste
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Cream Cheese Drizzle

  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 tablespoon milk To achieve the desired consistency

Optional Toppings

  • chopped nuts Such as walnuts or pecans
  • berries Fresh berries like strawberries or blueberries
  • other fruits Your choice of fruits

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Start by pouring 4 3/4 cups of water into a large pot along with 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Place the pot on high heat and bring the mixture to a rolling boil.
  • While you wait for the water to boil, take a small mixing bowl and combine 2 tablespoons of softened cream cheese, 2 tablespoons of sifted powdered sugar, and 1 tablespoon of milk. Using a handheld mixer or a whisk, beat the ingredients together until you achieve a smooth and creamy consistency. Once mixed, transfer the mixture to the fridge to chill.
  • When the water reaches a boil, carefully add in the rolled oats and stir well to combine.

Cooking

  • Reduce the heat to medium-low and let the oats cook for about 6-10 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent the oats from sticking to the bottom of the pot. You'll know the oats are done when they have absorbed most of the water and softened to your desired consistency.
  • Once cooked, remove the pot from the heat and stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 5 tablespoons of brown sugar, and 1 1/2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon. Mix well until everything is fully combined and deliciously aromatic.

Serving

  • Divide the oatmeal into bowls and drizzle the chilled cream cheese icing over the top. Feel free to get creative with optional toppings such as chopped nuts, fresh berries, or sliced fruits.

Notes

For added creaminess, substitute some of the water with milk. Adjust the sweetness to your preference, and serve immediately for the best texture.
