Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 12 ounces fresh cranberries Look for plump, firm berries
  • 1 cup sugar Adjust sweetness to preference, can be reduced for tangier sauce
  • 1 cup orange juice Fresh-squeezed juice enhances flavor
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon Adds warmth and spice
  • 1/4 cup orange marmalade Provides additional sweetness and flavor
  • 1/2 cup water Helps adjust sauce consistency

Instructions

Preparation

  • Rinse the fresh cranberries under cold water and sort through them, discarding any damaged or mushy ones.
  • In your crockpot, add the rinsed cranberries followed by the cup of sugar, ensuring it coats the berries well.
  • Pour in the cup of orange juice, then add the ground cinnamon, orange marmalade, and water.
  • Stir the ingredients together gently to distribute the sugar evenly.

Cooking

  • Cover the crockpot and set it to low for about 6 to 8 hours.
  • Check for consistency towards the end of cooking; if too runny, remove the lid and continue cooking for an additional 30 minutes.

Serving

  • Once the sauce has reached the desired consistency, turn off the crockpot and let it cool before serving.
  • Serve alongside holiday turkey, on sandwiches, with breakfast, or over cream cheese as an appetizer.
