  • 1 cup condensed milk Sweetened condensed milk is preferred.
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened Use room temperature butter for best results.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Spoon and level the flour to avoid compacting.
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup chocolate chips or nuts (optional) Add according to preference.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Mix in the condensed milk and vanilla extract, stirring until well combined.
  • In another bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • If using, fold in chocolate chips or nuts at this stage.

Baking

  • Scoop tablespoons of the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, ensuring space between each cookie.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. The centers may look slightly undercooked; they will set as they cool.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
