For the base

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Ensure it's truly softened for easy mixing.
  • 15 oz canned chili (with or without beans) Choose a chili that suits your taste preferences.

For the toppings

  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese Generously sprinkle over the chili.
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (optional) Use for additional creaminess.
  • 2–3 pieces green onions, sliced (optional) Adds flavor and color.
  • 1 small jalapeño, finely diced (optional) For a touch of heat.
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika or chili powder (optional) Enhances the flavor profile.

For serving

  • Tortilla chips, crackers, or veggie sticks For dipping.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Place softened cream cheese in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave for 20 to 30 seconds until smooth.
  • Spread the cream cheese evenly in an 8x8-inch baking dish.

Layering

  • Spoon canned chili over the cream cheese layer and spread evenly.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the chili and optionally add mozzarella cheese.
  • Top with optional diced jalapeños and green onions, and dust with smoked paprika or chili powder if desired.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 15 to 20 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Remove from oven and let cool for about five minutes before serving.

Notes

Allowing the dip to cool helps it set, making it easier to dip. Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3 to 5 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave.
