Ingredients
  

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 10 ounces dried beef (chopped, about 4 jars)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh black pepper
  • to taste salt (optional)

Instructions
 

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Whisk in the flour and cook for about a minute.
  • Slowly pour in the milk while whisking continuously to avoid lumps. Let the sauce simmer for about five minutes until thickened.
  • Add the chopped dried beef and black pepper to the sauce, stirring well. Cook for another two minutes to warm the beef through.
  • Taste and adjust salt as needed. Serve immediately over warm toast.
