Ingredients
  

Pasta and Cream Sauce

  • 400 g penne pasta
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1 cup thickened cream (heavy cream)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 4 tablespoons basil pesto
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon cooking salt

Garnish

  • fresh basil leaves (optional for garnish)
  • grated parmesan cheese (optional for garnish)

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the penne pasta according to the package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside.
  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat and sauté the crushed garlic for about 30 seconds, being careful not to brown it.
  • Stir in the thickened cream and milk to create the creamy base. Heat through, then add basil pesto, lemon juice, and cooking salt, stirring until well combined.

Cooking

  • Add the drained penne pasta to the sauce, tossing gently to coat each piece evenly.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning with more salt or lemon juice if necessary.

Serving

  • Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil leaves and grated parmesan cheese if desired.
