Ingredients
  

Vegetable Base

  • 2 pounds potatoes, peeled and sliced Opt for starchy potatoes like Russets for best texture.
  • 1 cup bell peppers, chopped
  • 1 cup onions, chopped

Protein

  • 1 pound ground beef Cook thoroughly before layering.

Creamy Sauce

  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk Adjust for creaminess after storage if needed.

Cheese

  • 2 cups shredded cheese (such as cheddar) Customize with different cheese types if desired.

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup with the milk. Mix until smooth and creamy.

Layering

  • Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the bottom of your crockpot.
  • Add half of the cooked ground beef on top of the potatoes.
  • Follow with half of the chopped onions and bell peppers.
  • Pour half of the creamy soup mixture over these layers.
  • Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese on top.

Cooking

  • Repeat the layering process with the remaining ingredients.
  • Cover your crockpot and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is melted.

Serving

  • Serve hot, optionally garnished with additional cheese or fresh herbs.
