Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup 1 cup (130g) all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled
  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 tsp kosher salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup 1/2 cup (110g) unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 3/4 cup 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp 1 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 1 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 large 1 large egg yolk
  • 1 tbsp 1 tbsp milk

Mix-ins

  • 3.5 oz 3.5 oz 85% cocoa dark chocolate bar, chopped
  • Flaky sea salt, for sprinkling For finishing

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and kosher salt.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and maple syrup until smooth.
  • Add the egg yolk, milk, and vanilla extract and whisk until well combined.
  • Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients using a rubber spatula until a soft, sticky dough forms.
  • Fold in the chopped dark chocolate.
  • Using a tablespoon, scoop out portions of dough and place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving ample space between each cookie.

Baking

  • Bake for about 12-15 minutes until the edges are golden brown and the centers look slightly undercooked.
  • Immediately sprinkle a pinch of flaky sea salt over each cookie.

Cooling

  • Transfer cookies to a cooling rack and allow them to cool completely.
