Ingredients

Potato Chips Ingredients

  • 4 large russet potatoes Thinly sliced for optimal crispiness
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt More can be added for taste
  • ¼ teaspoon chili powder
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper Adjust for spice level
  • optional freshly cracked black pepper

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  • Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Using a mandoline or a sharp knife, slice the potatoes thinly, about 1/8-inch thick for optimal crispiness.
  • Place the potato slices in a large bowl. Rinse them under cold water to remove excess starch, then drain and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel.

Seasoning

  • In a smaller bowl, mix the olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, brown sugar, salt, chili powder, and cayenne pepper to create your BBQ seasoning.
  • Drizzle the seasoning mixture over the sliced potatoes. Toss well to ensure all slices are evenly coated.

Baking

  • Arrange the potato slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheets. Be careful not to overcrowd them, as this will affect crispiness.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, flipping the chips halfway through, until they turn golden brown and are crisp.
  • Keep a close eye at the end to avoid burning. Remove from oven and let them cool for a few minutes.
  • Optionally, sprinkle with more salt or your favorite seasoning before serving.

Notes

Cut potato slices as evenly as possible for uniform baking. Soaking the slices in cold water for 30 minutes before baking can enhance crunch. Monitor the chips closely as every oven is different.
