Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 6 to 8 medium-sized medium-sized apples (a mix of Fuji, Honeycrisp, and Granny Smith) Use a mix of sweet and tart varieties.
  • 1 cup sugar Adjust based on the sweetness of apples.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon cloves
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice Brightens flavor.

Preparation

  • Peel, core, and slice the apples into manageable pieces.
  • Place the apple slices into the Crock Pot, packing them for even cooking.

Mixing

  • Sprinkle sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and lemon juice over the apples, then stir gently to coat evenly.

Cooking

  • Cover the Crock Pot and cook on low heat for 8 to 10 hours.
  • Once done, blend the mixture using an immersion blender until smooth.
  • If the apple butter is too runny, continue cooking uncovered until it thickens.

Canning

  • Sterilize jars and lids in boiling water.
  • Ladle the apple butter into the sterilized jars, leaving space at the top.
  • Seal the jars and process in a boiling water bath.
  • Allow jars to cool before storing in a cool, dark pantry.

Notes
