Ingredients
  

Main ingredients

  • 2 racks baby back ribs Look for a good meat-to-fat ratio.
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce Use your favorite brand.

Spice mixture

  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper Optional, for some heat.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs.
  • Pat the ribs dry using paper towels.

Making the Spice Mixture

  • In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.

Rubbing the Ribs

  • Generously rub the spice mixture all over the ribs for maximum flavor.

Cooking

  • Place the seasoned ribs in your crock pot.
  • Pour your favorite barbecue sauce over the ribs until well coated.
  • Cover the crock pot and set it to cook on low for about 6 to 8 hours.

Optional Broiling

  • For a crispy exterior, transfer the ribs to a baking sheet, baste with extra barbecue sauce, and broil for about 3 to 5 minutes.

Notes

Allow the ribs to cool completely before storing. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 to 4 days in the refrigerator, or wrap tightly and freeze for up to 2 to 3 months.
