Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 40 oz apple pie filling (two 20 oz cans or one 40 oz can)
  • 1 16 oz box white or yellow cake mix
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Optional Ingredients

  • cinnamon sugar (for sprinkling) Optional for added sweetness
  • vanilla ice cream Optional for serving

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Lightly grease the inside of a 5 to 6-quart crockpot.
  • Pour the apple pie filling into the bottom of the crockpot.
  • Optionally sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top of the apple filling.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the dry cake mix with ground cinnamon and sprinkle it evenly over the apple filling.
  • Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the cake mix layer.

Cooking

  • Cover the crockpot and cook on high for about 4 hours or on low for around 6 hours until golden brown and bubbly.

Serving

  • Serve warm in bowls, optionally topping with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
  • Optional: Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar or garnish with mint leaves if desired.

Notes

For best results, try using a mix of sweet and tart apples if making your own filling. Avoid overmixing the cake mix and butter for a fluffy texture. You can store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
