Crockpot Baked Ziti

A comforting and hearty dish made with ziti pasta, marinara sauce, ricotta, and mozzarella cheese, all cooked to perfection in a slow cooker.

Ingredients
  

Pasta and Sauce

  • 12 oz ziti pasta Cooked al dente
  • 4 cups marinara sauce Your choice of marinara

Cheeses

  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese Divided for layering
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese For topping

Seasonings

  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • Fresh basil for garnish Optional

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Cook the ziti pasta according to package instructions until al dente, then drain and let cool slightly.
  • In a large bowl, mix the cooked ziti with marinara sauce, ricotta cheese, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper until well-coated.

Layering

  • Layer half of the ziti mixture in the bottom of the slow cooker.
  • Sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly on top.
  • Repeat with the remaining ziti mixture and top with the rest of the mozzarella cheese.
  • Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the top.

Cooking

  • Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours or on high for 2-3 hours.
  • Let the dish sit for a few minutes before serving.
  • Garnish with fresh basil if desired.

Notes

For variations, try adding cooked ground beef, different vegetables, or experimenting with various cheeses. Leftovers can be refrigerated for 3-5 days or frozen for 2-3 months.
