Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water Make sure it's warm but not hot.
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons) Ensure yeast is fresh.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

Preparation

  • Pour 1 cup of warm water into a small bowl. Sprinkle in 1 teaspoon of sugar and add 1 packet of active dry yeast. Let sit for 5 to 10 minutes until foamy.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour and 1 teaspoon of salt, mixing until well combined.
  • Once the yeast mixture is foamy, add it to the flour mixture along with 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Stir until a soft dough forms.
  • Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl. Cover with a kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm location for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Cooking

  • After the dough has risen, punch it down gently and shape it into a loaf.
  • Grease the inside of the crockpot and place the loaf inside.
  • Cover the crockpot and cook on high for 2 to 3 hours until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  • Carefully remove the bread from the crockpot and allow it to cool on a wire rack before slicing.
