  • 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts Trim any excess fat
  • 2 cups marinara sauce Can use store-bought or homemade
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese Freshly shredded preferred
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • to taste Salt and pepper Adjust according to taste
  • to serve Cooked pasta Choose your favorite type
  • for garnish Fresh basil Optional

Preparation

  • Gather all the necessary ingredients and trim the chicken breasts of any excess fat.
  • Lay the chicken breasts flat at the bottom of the crockpot.
  • Pour marinara sauce over the chicken breasts until well covered.
  • Sprinkle Italian seasoning over the top and add salt and pepper to taste.

Cooking

  • Cover the crockpot and set it to cook on low for 6-7 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
  • Thirty minutes before cooking is complete, add the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese over the chicken.
  • Check the chicken for doneness, ensuring it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).

Serving

  • Serve the chicken over cooked pasta and garnish with freshly chopped basil, if desired.
