  • 1 box chocolate cake mix Choose your favorite chocolate cake mix.
  • 1 cup chocolate chips For added richness; can substitute with caramel or peanut butter chips.
  • 1 box chocolate pudding mix Ensure it's the instant pudding mix.
  • 2 cups milk Use whole milk for creaminess, but can substitute with any milk.

For Serving

  • 1 scoop vanilla ice cream For a delicious contrast with the warm cake.

Preparation

  • Spray the crockpot with a non-stick cooking spray.
  • Prepare the chocolate cake mix according to the instructions on the box.
  • Pour the prepared cake batter into the bottom of the crockpot.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the chocolate pudding mix and milk until smooth.
  • Pour the pudding mixture over the cake batter in the crockpot.
  • Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over the top.

Cooking

  • Cover the crockpot with the lid and cook on low for 2 to 3 hours, checking periodically.
  • The cake is done when it has set at the edges but jiggles slightly in the center.

Serving

  • Scoop out a generous portion into a bowl, ensuring to get some of that oozing chocolate lava.
  • Top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and drizzle with chocolate syrup if desired.
  • Garnish with fresh berries for added flavor and color.
