Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound frozen meatballs You can also use homemade meatballs.
  • 2 cups marinara sauce Try different types of marinara for varied flavors.
  • 4 pieces hoagie rolls Whole grain or gluten-free options can be used.
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese Other cheese options include provolone or cheddar.
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish Optional for serving.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Place the frozen meatballs in the bottom of your crockpot without thawing them.
  • Pour the marinara sauce over the meatballs, ensuring they are well coated.

Cooking

  • Cover the crockpot and set it to cook on low for 4 to 6 hours or on high for 2 to 3 hours.
  • While the meatballs are cooking, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Place the hoagie rolls on a baking sheet and toast them in the oven for about 5 minutes.
  • Once the meatballs are ready, use tongs or a slotted spoon to fill each toasted hoagie roll with meatballs and marinara sauce.
  • Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top of each filled roll.
  • Place the meatball-filled rolls back in the oven and broil for 1 to 2 minutes until the cheese melts.
  • Remove from the oven and serve immediately, garnished with fresh basil or parsley if desired.

Notes

For a more interactive dining experience, consider allowing guests to assemble their own subs. Store leftovers by wrapping them in foil or placing them in airtight containers, keeping meatballs and sauce separate to avoid soggy rolls.
