Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage Choose according to preference
  • 1 each onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jar pizza sauce (24 oz) Use quality pizza sauce for best flavor
  • 1 can diced tomatoes (14 oz)
  • 1 each bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 cup sliced pepperoni
  • 3 cups cooked pasta (like rotini or penne) Any pasta shape works, but rotini holds sauce well
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese Add more if you like it extra cheesy
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Preparation

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef or Italian sausage, chopped onion, and minced garlic. Cook for 5 to 7 minutes until meat is no longer pink and onions are softened, then drain excess fat.
  • In a slow cooker, combine the cooked meat mixture, pizza sauce, and diced tomatoes. Stir gently to blend.
  • Add the chopped bell pepper and sliced pepperoni to the slow cooker.
  • Add the cooked pasta, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix all ingredients together until well combined.
  • Cover and set the slow cooker to cook on low for 4 to 6 hours.
  • About 15 minutes before serving, stir in the shredded mozzarella cheese and cover to allow it to melt.
  • Once the cheese is melted and bubbly, serve with optional garnishes like fresh basil or parsley.
