  • 64 ounces apple cider Use fresh apple cider for best flavor.
  • 1 orange, sliced Add slices directly into the cider.
  • 5-6 whole cloves Provides warm, slightly sweet flavor.
  • 2-3 cinnamon sticks Enhances aroma and provides spice.
  • 1-2 star anise Adds subtle complexity.
  • 1/2 cup brandy (optional) For an adult twist.
  • to taste sweetener (optional) Adjust sweetness according to preference.

Preparation

  • Gather all ingredients for smooth preparation.
  • Pour 64 ounces of apple cider into your crockpot.
  • Slice the orange into thin rounds and add to the cider.
  • Toss in 5-6 whole cloves, 2-3 cinnamon sticks, and 1-2 pieces of star anise.
  • Cover the crockpot and set the temperature to low.
  • Let the mixture heat for 4-6 hours.

Serving

  • Check the cider occasionally during cooking.
  • Stir in brandy (if using) and sweetener to taste before serving.
  • Strain out solids before serving for a smoother drink.
  • Ladle warm cider into heatproof mugs and garnish with a cinnamon stick or orange slice.
