Ingredients
  

Main ingredients

  • 2 pounds cube steak or round steak Affordable cuts become tender when slow-cooked.
  • 14.5 ounces can of diced tomatoes Adds flavor and helps tenderize the meat.
  • 1 medium onion, sliced Will sweeten as it cooks.
  • 1 cup beef broth Creates a rich sauce.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced Brings aroma and depth.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • As desired additional seasonings (bay leaf, Italian seasoning) Customize according to your taste.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Place your cube steak or round steak in a single layer at the bottom of the crockpot.
  • Pour the can of diced tomatoes over the beef.
  • Scatter the sliced onion on top of the beef and tomatoes.
  • Pour the beef broth over the entire mixture.
  • Add the minced garlic to the crockpot.
  • Sprinkle salt, pepper, and paprika over your ingredients.
  • Gently stir everything together until well mixed.

Cooking

  • Cover the crockpot with its lid and set it to low heat.
  • Let it cook for 6 to 8 hours, or until the beef is tender and juicy.

Serving

  • Once cooked, serve your Crockpot Swiss Steak with sides of mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles.
  • Garnish with fresh herbs for added flavor.

Notes

For a thicker sauce, remove some liquid and thicken with a cornstarch slurry. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days in the refrigerator or freeze for up to 3 months.
