  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 1 cup chicken broth

Preparation

  • Brown the ground turkey in a skillet over medium heat, breaking it apart as it cooks until it is thoroughly browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Transfer the cooked turkey to a slow cooker.
  • Add the black beans, kidney beans, diced tomatoes, onion, garlic, and bell pepper to the slow cooker.
  • Sprinkle in the chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Pour in the chicken broth.
  • Give everything a good stir to combine the ingredients.

Cooking

  • Cover the slow cooker with its lid. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
  • Once cooking time is complete, carefully remove the lid and stir the chili before serving.

Notes

Feel free to customize toppings such as shredded cheese, sour cream, green onions, or jalapeños. Letting the chili sit after cooking allows flavors to deepen, enhancing the taste.
