Ingredients
  

For the Marinade

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

For the Chicken

  • 2 pounds chicken thighs or drumsticks
  • 1 teaspoon green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, brown sugar, and black pepper. Whisk until the brown sugar dissolves completely.
  • Place chicken in a large zip-top bag or shallow bowl and pour the marinade over the chicken. Seal and let marinate for 15 to 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C).

Cooking

  • Remove chicken from marinade, shaking off excess liquid. Reserve the remaining marinade.
  • Place chicken in the air fryer basket, ensuring not to overcrowd.
  • Cook chicken for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through. Brush chicken with reserved marinade during the last 5 minutes.
  • Check the internal temperature of the chicken, ensuring it reaches 165°F (74°C).
  • Remove chicken from air fryer and let it rest for a few minutes.
  • Garnish with chopped green onions and serve.

Notes

For deeper flavor, marinate the chicken longer (up to 8 hours). Pat the chicken dry before air frying for a crispier texture. You can also sprinkle cornstarch on the chicken for extra crispiness.
