Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups strawberries, chopped Use fresh, ripe strawberries.
  • 1 cup cranberries, fresh or frozen No need to thaw frozen cranberries.
  • 1/2 cup orange zest
  • 1 cup sugar Adjust sweetness to preference.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Can be substituted with lime juice for a zesty twist.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Wash strawberries and cranberries thoroughly. Chop the strawberries into small pieces.

Cooking

  • In a medium-sized saucepan, combine chopped strawberries, cranberries, orange zest, sugar, and lemon juice.
  • Place the saucepan on medium heat and stir occasionally to dissolve the sugar.
  • Continue stirring until the mixture begins to boil.
  • Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 15 to 20 minutes, stirring regularly.
  • To test the consistency, place a spoonful on a cold plate. If it holds its shape, it's ready.
  • Remove from heat and allow to cool in the pan. It will thicken further as it cools.

Storage
