Instructions

Preparation

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the ground beef or your chosen protein. Use a spatula to break up the meat and cook it until browned and fully cooked.
  • Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, cumin, and chili powder as the meat cooks.
  • Drain any excess fat from the meat to keep the burritos from being too greasy.
  • Warm the flour tortillas in a pan or oven until they are soft and pliable.
  • Spread a layer of refried beans on each tortilla.
  • Add the cooked meat mixture on top of the beans.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheese over the meat, then add diced bell peppers, onions, and jalapeños.
  • Fold in the sides of each tortilla and roll them tightly from one end to the other, securing the filling inside.
  • Place the rolled burritos seam-side down on a baking sheet and brush the tops with melted butter.

Cooking

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Bake the burritos for 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown and slightly crispy.
  • Remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before slicing diagonally.

Serving

  • Serve warm with extra salsa, guacamole, or sour cream for dipping.
  • Garnish with fresh cilantro or extra cheese if desired.

Notes

Do not overload the tortilla with too much filling. For crispy burritos, consider pan-frying them after baking. Store leftovers properly to maintain freshness.
