  • 1 block firm tofu, pressed and cubed Press well to remove excess moisture.
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup or agave nectar Adjust sweetness to taste.
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • to taste red chili flakes (optional) For added heat.
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • for garnish Chopped green onions

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (if baking or pan-frying, preheat oven as necessary).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine orange juice, soy sauce, maple syrup, cornstarch, sesame oil, grated ginger, and minced garlic. Stir until well-blended.
  • Gently add pressed and cubed tofu to the sauce mix, ensuring all pieces are coated. Let marinate for 10 minutes.

Cooking

  • For air frying, arrange the tofu in a single layer in the basket and air fry for 15 to 20 minutes, shaking halfway.
  • For pan-frying, heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and cook tofu for about 10 minutes, flipping to achieve a golden exterior.
  • For baking, spread marinated tofu on a lined baking sheet and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, turning occasionally.
  • Once cooked, toss tofu in any remaining sauce and season with salt, pepper, and optional red chili flakes.

Serving

  • Serve hot over cooked rice or quinoa. Consider pairing with steamed veggies and garnishing with chopped green onions.

Notes

For storage, let tofu cool completely, then transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate for up to three days. Reheat in a skillet to maintain crispiness. Optional variations include adding chili paste for spiciness or swapping sweeteners.
