Ingredients
  

Cookie Base

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure butter is at room temperature.
  • 1 cup brown sugar Packed tightly.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs Crack one at a time.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda Ensure it's fresh.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Mix-ins

  • 2 cups old-fashioned oats Do not use quick oats for best texture.
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Rich chocolate recommended.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated.
  • Incorporate the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  • Fold in the oats and chocolate chips gently.
  • Use a spoon or cookie scoop to drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 10 to 12 minutes until edges are golden.
  • Cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks.

Notes
